Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

  • JBST follows the guidelines of the Council of Science Editors (CSE) and International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), which state that, in order to qualify for authorship of a manuscript, the following criteria should be observed: To be an author, a person must have made substantive contributions to the study by accomplishing at least 3 of the criteria presented in the author contribution form. Also, it is mandatory for all authors to prepare the outline of the manuscript or to intellectually review or criticize the content of the manuscript. It is of all authors’ responsibility to approve the final version of the article before publication. All authors should accomplish the conditions specified above. Otherwise, contributors who do not meet these criteria and conditions are to be mentioned in the final “Acknowledgements” section of the article.

  • Prepared original manuscripts are sent as drafts by the corresponding author.

  • Notice should be taken for the accuracy and adaptation of the citations and quotations made in publications.

  • Conflicts of interest should be identified and explained by authors before the chapter of references in the manuscript.

  • Raw data can be requested from the author of an article by the chief editor, field editors, or reviewers. As a result, the author must maintain the article's raw data on hand before submitting it.

  • If necessary, the author must provide ‘‘ethical reports’’ together with the article.

  • It is the author's responsibility to notify the journal authorities in case of any errors or inaccuracy regarding the article at any of the pre-control, evaluation, correction and publication stages.

  • The fact that an article is in two different journals is not suitable for the possibility of not being accepted in the other journal. In addition, an article published in another journal cannot be sent to the Balkan Journal of Science and Technology.

  • For an article on the process for publishing in the Journal of Balkan Science and Technology, an application with the consent of all contributing authors is required in order to add an author, change the order of the authors, or omit an author. The application is reviewed by the editorial board of the journal, and the decision is communicated to the corresponding author.

  • Authors who desire to use previously published figures, tables, or text passages must seek permission from the copyright owner(s) for both the print and online formats, as well as provide documentation of such authorization when submitting their papers. Without such proof, any material sent will be believed to be from the writers. All matters requiring permission are the responsibility of the author(s) and JBST does not accept any responsibility in this regard.

Originality, Plagiarism and Acknowledgment of Sources

Before examining the suitability of a manuscript sent to our journal in terms of aim and scope, a similarity (plagiarism) search should be done on iThenticate by the corresponding author. The similarity report should be uploaded in PDF format. The report must be not exceeded the rate of 20%. If the similarity index is over 20% as a result of the scan, the manuscript will not be evaluated. In this case, the author(s) is requested to revise (reduce the similarity index) and resubmit the manuscript. Bibliographic materials are excluded during browsing.
